Top Drive Valve
The Top Drive Valves or IBOPs
can be separated into Upper IBOPs and Lower IBOPs. The upper IBOP is positioned
between the power swivel and the top drive main shaft. The lower IBOP
is positioned between the top drive main shaft and a crossover sub. They
are used to shut off flow in the drill sting and to prevent mud loss during
tripping operations. Due to the efficiency and potential savings that
Top Drive or Power Swivel rigs offer, their usage has consistently increased
throughout the last two decades. |
